Baruch Prather was a Patriot in the American Revolution, and his grave site has been commemorated by D.A.R. Although large, the site appears to be two distinct burying grounds which abut. It is entirely likely there are more graves here which are unmarked or which have been obliterated over the years. Not far from the main site is another, small site which is so overgrown it is difficult to enter (and in summer time it likely is unwise to do so). It appears to have at least one and possibly a few more stones. The only one which could be deciphered given the heavy overgrowth and limited time and an impending storm appears to be that of one "Lucy King." With city assistance, the latter site could be cleaned up so a formal survey could be made. According to M.A. Kaylor who cites the Baruch Prather Family Bible, he was born in Prince George Co. MD. He was married to Sarah Higgins on 16 November 1775 in Frederick County MD. She was the d/o James and Luraner Becraft Higgins. Baruch and Sarah Prather moved to Lexington ca. 1810.
