Edmund Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all To
whom these Presents shall come Greeting Know ye that by Virtue and in
consideration of four Land office Treasury warrants Nos 11385, 13856, 15572,
15700 There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Richard Gains, Charles
Lee, Pitman Hooffman & Charles Duncan assignees of William M. Williams a
Certain Tract or parcel of Land Containing six thousand six hundred and
fifteen acres by survey bearing date the second day of June 1785, lying and
being in the County of Fayette on the Ohio river and Cabbin Creek and
bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at the mouth of said Creek on the
upper side thence up the said Creek as it meanders South forty degrees West
eighty poles South fifty five degrees East one hundred and forty poles South
seventy five degrees East one hundred poles South thirteen Degrees East
eighty poles South sixty degrees East one hundred and thirty poles South
fifty five degrees East eighty poles North seventy five degrees East one
hundred and twenty poles North fifty five degrees East forty poles East one
hundred and forty poles North sixty degrees East one hundred poles South
five degrees East forty poles South sixty eight degrees East three hundred
and twenty poles East one hundred poles South forty seven degrees East one
hundred and sixty poles to two sugar trees and buckeye on the bank of the
Creek North thirty degrees East one hundred and two poles to four white oaks
and two hickories North sixty degrees West four hundred and seventy poles to
a stake in the line of Samuel Beals survey of 2450 Acres thence with a line
of the said survey South thirty degrees West three hundred and eighty five
poles to the Corner thereof thence with another of Beals lines of said
Survey North sixty degrees West eight hundred and fifty six poles to a
Buckeye and box elder on the bank of the Ohio River ____ ____ ____ ____
Corner to James Brown's survey of three hundred and twenty ____ ____ ____
said Brown's line South fifty degrees East one hundred and seventy poles to
the Corner Thereof a white ash and beech thence with another of Brown's line
____ forty degrees West three hundred poles to the corner to a white oak and
sugar tree thence Continuing with Brown's North fifty degrees West one
hundred and ninety poles to a beech on the bank of the river down the river
South fifty five degrees West sixty poles South seventy degrees West two
hundred and sixty poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances to have and
to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said
Richard Gains and his Heirs forever In witness whereof the said Edmund
Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set
his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed
at Richmond on the fourteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and eighty eight and of the Commonwealth the twelfth.
