VIRGINIA GRANT: Blackwell, 1790, Fayette Date: 2/25/00 4:09:20 PM From: MartinaCarpenter@webbworks.com (Martina Carpenter) Virginia Grants James Blackwell Fayette County, KY Book 11, Pages 516 - 517 FHC #02728 15 Beverley Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that by virtue & in consideration of a Preemption Warrant No 2620 Issued the 31st day of August 1784 there is Granted by the said Commonwealth unto James Blackwell a certain tract or parcel of land containing one thousand acres by Survey bearing date the 25th day of September 1788 lying and being in the County of Fayette on Cedar Creek and bounded as followeth To wit Beginning at an ash and Elm on the North bank of Cedar Creek one hundred poles below Joseph Blackwells Improvement, thence South four hundred poles crossing the Creek to a large poplar Sugar tree and dogwood, thence East four hundred poles crossing the South fork of Cedar Creek at two hundred and forty poles to four hickories and two Sugar tree saplings thence North four hundred poles to a poplar and white Walnut on the South bank of a large Branch, thence West four hundred poles crossing the North fork of Cedar Creek to the Beginning with its appurtenances To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said James Blackwell and his Heirs forever In Witness whereof the said Beverley Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety & of the Commonwealth the fifteenth.
