Strother Mitchell Jones, 23, reported missing in action in the mediterranean area November 26, has been killed in action according to the word from the War Department. The son of Mr.Frank Jones and Flora Ethel Neff Jones, he was born on thefarm of Strother D. Mitchell on the Versailles Road, he was married Dec.25 1941 to Betty Mae Worthington of Fort Thomas. Entering service January 28, 1942, as a mechanical engineer with the Army Air Corp, Private Jones recieved training in Jefferson Barracks, Mo., Fort Beivoir, Va., Dryersburg, Tenn. and Mobile, Ala. he was sent overseas in October 1943. Besides his parents and wife he is survived by a daughter, Betty Jean Jones, two sisters Ruth B. Yates, of Stamping Ground, Ky and Anna Mae Hombirg of Fayette Co., Ky., and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs John Neff of Fort Springs. He was a member of the Elkhorn Baptist Church.
