Harris of the Regt. commanded by Col. Ramsay in the Maryland line for militia for 6 months from 1776. Inscribed on the Roll of Kentucky at the rate of twenty Dollars -- Cents per annum, to commence on the 4th day of March, 1831. Certificate of Pension issued the 28th day of December 1832 and ... Sylvester, Clerk, Book D, Vol. 9, p. 38. ---------------------------------- State of Kentucky, Fleming County On this third day of December 1832 personally appeared in Open Court before the County Court of Fleming now sitting JAMES RIGDON a resident of Kentucky in the County of Fleming aged Seventy Years who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his Oath made the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7th 1832. That he entered the Service of the United States under the folowing named officers and service as herein stated. That he enlisted in the month of October 1776 in Harford County Maryland for two months in the Company of Capt. Robert Harris and served for two months in Regiment line under the Command of Capt. Amos & Col. Ramsey, marched through Pennsylvania to Trenton New Jersey from thence to Amboy; & was discharged at Amboy by Capt. Amos on the 15th day of December 1776 he thinks but is not certain as to the Year but recollects well that it was the same Year that Fort Washington was taken, he was afterwards drafted twice and served two months each time. He believes these drafts was in 1778. he was also drafted a third time and hired a substitute. All the drafts was out of Capt. Scotts Company of Hartford County Maryland where he then resided and he served in the Regiment Commanded by Col. Ramsey & the Company of Capt. Benjamin or William Amos; he states that from the informations of his parents he was born in March 1762 in Hartford County, Maryland & that he has no record of his age & never saw one; he states that he resided in State of Maryland after the Revolutionary War until the fall of 1807 and since in State of Kentucky and for the last Twelve Years in Fleming County, Ky., his present place of residence he states that he is will known to Benjamin Northcut and John Jones both being his near neighbours that he has no documentary evidence in his possession and that he knows of no persons whose testimony he can procure who can testify to his service. He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever or annuity except the present, and declares that his name is not on the pension Roll of the agency of any state. Sworn & subscribed to this day & Year aforesaid. James (x) Rigdon. .................................. We Benjamin Northcut a clergyman residing in the County of Fleming & State of Kentucky and John Jones residing in the same County & State aforesaid do hereby certify that we are well acquainted with James Rigdon who has subscribed & sworn to the declaration: that we believe him to be Seventy years of age that he is reputed & believe in the Niebourhood (sic) wherein he resides to have been a soldier of the Revolution and that we concur in that opinion. Sworn & subscribed the day & Year aforesaid [signed] Benjamin Northcott, John Jones .................................. And the said Court do hereby declare their opinion after the investigation of the matter, and after putting the interrogatories prescribed by the War Department that the above named applicant was a soldier of the revolution and served as he states, and the court further certified that it appears to them that Benjamin Northcott who has signed the preceding certificate is a clergyman resident in Fleming County and that John Jones who has also signed the same is a resident in the same county and is a credible person and that their statement is ___(?) to credit.
