KyGenWeb; Kentucky Biographies; CALVIN, Vincent Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 8-B, 1887 Floyd County Vincent CALVIN was born in Boyd County, Ky., November 22, 1820, and is a son of John and Margaret (Davidson) CALVIN. John CALVIN was born on the south branch of the Potomac River, in East Virginia, was a farmer, and served in the war of 1812 under General Pogue. Mrs. Margaret CALVIN was native of Clarksburg, W. Va. Vincent CALVIN has always been a farmer and trader, and now owns 450 acres of improved land in Boyd County, and a tract in Lawrence County containing 1,200 acres, all of which is in timber with the exception of seventy-five acres. He was married, in 1857, to Miss Stephania L. Kouns, daughter of George W. and Elizabeth (Prosser) Kouns, natives of Kentucky and Virginia. The children born to this marriage are named, in order of birth, as follows: Elizabeth, John, Mary, George and Annie. The family belong to the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and in politics Mr. CALVIN is a Democrat.
