MILITIA: Allen, William, (War of 1812) Franklin & Washington Cos & IN Submitter: Phyllis Hill Application for Bounty Land, War of 1812, 11 June 1855 State of Indiana} County of Orange} SS On this 11th day of June A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty five personally appeared before me a Justice of the peace within and for said County and State William Allen aged sixty two years who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical William Allen who was a private in the Company commanded by Col. Philips in the War with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812. That he entered the service of the United States as a Substitute for one Bland whose Christian name he thinks was Thomas on or about the month of May 1813 in Washington County in the State of Kentucky for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of fourteen days and was honorably discharged at near Frankfort in the State of Kentucky (That he entered the service at Washington County in the State of Kentucky) on or about the month of June 1813 on account of an express countermanding the order for footmen - He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the County land to which he may be entitled under the Act approved March 5th 1855 He also declares that he has not received a warrant for bounty land under this or any other act of Congress nor under any application thus far.
