------------------------------------------------------------ OBIT: Vansant, 2002, Fayette, Franklin & Mercer Co. ------------------------------------------------------------ From the Danville Advocate-Messenger, 24 Feb 2002 HARRODSBURG -- Gilbert Mastin Vansant, 84, of Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital East. Born Nov. 20, 1917, in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Guy Franklin and Charlotte A. Mastin Vansant. He was a former salesman for Ades Lexington Dry Goods Co. and owner of the former Gazebo Gift Shop in Danville. He served as a captain in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Central Christian Church in Lexington. He was a graduate of Frankfort High School and a 1938 graduate of Centre College, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was a former member of Danville Rotary Club, Harrodsburg Historical Society, and board member of the Ragged Edge Theatre in Harrodsburg. Survivors include his wife, Anne Tilden Bohon Vansant; a daughter, Katherine Vansant Bates of Ridgewood, N.J., and a grandson. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Carol Rawls. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may go to Woodlawn Children's Home.
