Submitted by:Kevin Arnold Will for Benjamin Arnold December 18, 1828 Source: Franklin County, Kentucky, Will Book 2, p. 30-1 I Benjamin Arnold of the State of Kentucky and County of Franklin, being perfect in mind but indisposed in body do hereby make and declare this as my last will and testament revoking all other wills by me made heretofore. In the first place I wish that I may be decently intered and all the expenses incident thereunto paid and also every just debt speedily paid. The balance of my estate I wish disposed of as is hereafter named. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Arnold two Negroes, one named Jacob and another named Maria, which are named in a deed of gift bearing date 14th Octr. 1826 to him & his heirs forever. Again I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth a Negro girl called Sindy instead of a Negro woman named Malinda deeded to her as a gift bearing date the 14th Octr. 1826 to have and to hold during her natural life and should the sd. Elizabeth die without issue the said Negro girl & increase if any there be to be divided amount her kin agreeably to the law passing property by descent. Again I give & bequeath unto my daughter Sally a certain Negro boy called Sancho, given heretofore by a deed of gift bearing date the 14th Octr. 1826 on the same terms that I have given to my daughter Elizabeth and it is further understood that should one or each of the said daughters any heir or issue that then the the aforesaid bequest or bequests are to descend to them. Again, I give and bequeath unto my son Presley a mulatto girl named Nance to him and his heirs forever. Again it is my will that my Negro woman Malinda shall remain in the family with whoever she chuses after my decease and to be well taken care of during her life. Again it is my will that the balance of my estate of every description shall be equally amongst my children and their heirs, to wit, my son Thomas, Anna Sandford & her heirs, my son Willis and his heirs, Elizabeth, Joanna Harrod & her heirs, Lewis & his heirs and Sally and Presley & his heirs & lastly it is my will my son Thomas & Presley be appointed executors to this my last will and testament.
