Royster, a grandson of Clemence Roper and Lewis Scearce, now living in Fulton, Fulton County, Ky., certify that the foregoing list were originally copied from the old Family Bible of Joseph Roper, then in the hands of Joseph A. (known as Button) Roper, a son of Joseph Roper and Zulima McClellan, and then living about eight or ten miles north of Fulton, Ky. in Hickman Co., Ky., but now dead; after the death of said Button Roper, the bible passed into the hands of his son, Shouse Roper and was burned when his home was destroyed by fire five or siz years ago, and I think that copies of the above lists made by me or from lists given to other members of the family are the only authentic records of the original Roper family in Fulton County, Ky. or in Hickman Co., Ky., as Fulton Co., was a part of Hickman Co., until 1845 when it became a separate county, and every member of the family from and including William H. Roper must have been born in Hickman Co., Ky. The family came here from Shelby County, Ky. J. F.
