The following is a sample of the what the collection contains. "Whereas B. F. Carr and G. W. Paschall have this day subscribed for two thousand dollars of Bond of the New Orleans & Ohio Railroad being of their first and only mortgage bonds at 80 cents on the dollar to be paid one half 1st of May one half 1st of January next and in consideration thereof as agent for the New Orleans and Ohio Railroad, I have agreed to locate a depot on their land. Now if the Board of Directors shall not confirm said location of depot on their said land then their subscription for said bonds are to be null and void and they are not required to pay anything on said subscription.
