1953 in Fulton from Fulton Daily Leader by Eunice Mitchell March South Fulton voted to extend its corporate limits. The Highlands Water Commission voted to let the contract for a new water system. The Fulton High Bulldogs won the First District Basketball Tournament and through the generosity of there fans were able to view the state tournament in Lexington. An open house at South Fulton auditroium officially opened the new building. The reorganized Chamber of Commerce, with Mrs. C. E. Hughes as secretary, opened its membership drive amid renewed interest in the organization. Two teenagers were held in connection with a series of thefts in Fulton and South Fulton. The one hundred year old Miss Sarah Ann Brockman died. Local Patrolman Hassell Williams and Carmi Page foiled a robbery attempt on the Fulton Bank with the arrest of four men in the alley behind the bank.
