Hickman Courier A. E. Pair, Hickman grocer, dies at Baptist hospital June 3 *********************************************************** A. E. Pair, Hickman grocer, died at Baptist Hospital, Memphis June 3. He followed his father L. L. Pair in the grocery business and first was located where his father sold groceries in Hickman. Later he was a grocer at Walnut Log and still later went into retirement. He came out of retirement in 1958 when the new A. E. Pair & Son Grocery Store was built in the Beech Grove community on Route 2. Born Aug. 25, 1905, he was the son of Viola McKenzie and L. L. Pair. Funeral services were held at the West Baptist at 2 p.m. Friday with Bros. Hal Shipley and Jimmy Banks officiating. Burial under the direction of Barrett Funeral Home was in City Cemetery with Lloyd Craddock, H. L. McKinnis, Hugh Ed. McKinnis, Travis Hawkins, Bert Yarvro, Jr., Tommy Yarbro and Bonner Williams serving as pall bearers. He is survived by his wife, Lily; two sons, Robert of Hickman and Richard of Union City; a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Jean Thomas of Union City; nine grandchildren; a brother, Clifton of Memphis; three sister, Blanche Steepleton and Bessie Larmier, both of Jackson, Tenn. and Edna Chamberlain of Memphis. ************************************ Hickman City Cemetery Arvel Edwin Pair Aug. 25, 1905 - June 3, 1964 ************************************ Obit furnished by Jackie Weigandt
