Hickman Courier Ernest A. Cagle, Retired Hickman Businessman dies in West Hickman Funeral Services For Former Plumber Held Monday Afternoon ********************************************************* Ernest Avery Cagle, 64, retired Hickman businessman, died at his home at 905 Ashland Street in West Hickman at 4:20 a.m. Saturday. He had been in poor health the past three years and became critically ill following a stroke. Born Aug. 7, 1897, he was the son of William Adam and Nannie Cagle. One of 13 children he lived in this area all of his life. Mr. Cagle began working as a plumber in 1935 and in 1955 he and his son, Leroy formed a local business - E. A. Cagle & Son. The partnership was dissolved in 1959 when Mr. Cagle was forced to retire because of poor health. Funeral services were held at Barrett Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday with Bro. Chester Hoffman, Pentecost pastor of Samburg, officiating. Burial was in City Cemetery with his nephews - Griffey and Clyde of Ridgely; William of Michigan City, Ind.; Haynes, who is in the Army; Bobby of Chesterton, Ind; and Billy of Chicago serving as pallbearers. Survivors include his father; William Adam Cagle, who is 93 years old, Route 2; his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Lee Cagle; the one son, Leroy; three grandchildren; a half brother, J. C. Cagle of St. Louis; a half sister, Mrs. Laverne Crowell, Hickman. A son James Avery died while serving in the U. S.
