Herman Cleo "Red" Basham, 79, a resident of 1602 Myron Cory Drive, Hickman, died at 12:03 a.m., July 19,1993, at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton, where he had been a patient for one week. Born Feb.7, 1914, in Obion County, he was the son of the late Herman Basham and Ora Nettles Basham. He was married to Laverne Woods, who died June 24, 1968. He was a retired commercial fisherman and guide at Reelfoot Lake, a Baptist and a U. S. Army World War II Veteran. Services were held at 2 p.m., July 20, at White-Ransom Funeral Home in Union City, with the Rev. Henry Callison officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Manual Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Survivors include three daughters, Diane Henson of Union City, Judy Summers of Hickman and Barbara Jones of Union City; two sons, Jimmy Basham and Johnny Basham, both of Tiptonville; two sisters,Floy Tinnon of Pheonix, Ariz. And Dessie Marnes of St.Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, George B. Basham and one grandson, Rodney Henson.
