Henry Smith Jr. 12/18/2003 Fulton Leader Henry E. “Smitty” Smith Jr., a resident of Fulton, died on Dec. 14 at Haws Memorial Nursing Home. He was 78. Services are set for today, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Cayce Cemetery. Masonic services were held on Dec. 16. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hale Smith of Fulton; two sons, Bobby Smith of Barlett, Tenn., and Donnie Smith of Algoma, Miss.; one brother, James Roland Smith of Lake County, Tenn.; and three grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry Everett Sr. and Rebecca Myers Smith. Born on June 18, 1925, in Weakley County, he was the proprietor of Jet Lanes Bowling Alley in Fulton and lived most of his life in Fulton County. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy; a member of Cayce Baptist Church; and the Grand Masonic Lodge in Hickman, where he received a 50-year membership pin. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
