Hickman Courier - Friday, March 26, 1937 **************************************** Deaths - Mrs. John Smith **************************************** Mrs. Jocie Smith, age 62, wife of John Smith of near Brownsville died at her home Thursday March 18, following a stroke of paralysis. Daughter of Virginia G. and John Watson, she was born in Tennessee. She was a loyal member of the Brownsville Baptist Church and had a large circle of devoted friends who deeply regret her passing. Funeral service were conducted Friday afternoon from the Brownsville Baptist Church by the Rev. B. E. Overby of Barlow. Interment follows in the Brownsville Cemetery with the services of H. C. Barrett. Those from a distance attending the services were: Mr. & Mrs. Richard Watson and family; Mr. & Mrs. John Watson of Brookland, Ark.; Mrs. Nan Russell of Memphis; Mrs. Pearl Kelly of Tiptonville; Rev. & Mrs. E. B. Overby of Barlow; Mr. & Mrs. Ed Nipp of Dresden; and Mr. &. Mrs. John Jones, Mrs. Wesley King and Baby, Mrs. Craine and Mr. & Mrs. Bud Doty, all of Hickman. ****************************************************************** The above obituary states that she was buried in the Brownsville Cemetery, when in fact she is actually in the Beech Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. ******************************************************************
