From the Hickman Courier

  Mr. Moses Amberg, one of the pioneer settlers of Hickman died at his home 
on Carroll Street last Sunday night, aged 77 years. He had been confined to 
his bed for some weeks but suffered a stroke of paralysis which hastened his
death. Deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany and came here way back in the 
50's and worked in the store of J. Amberg for some time. He also carried on 
a mercantile establishment in Tiptonville years ago. He conducted the Old
LaClede Hotel here for some years, up until it was bought and torn away. He 
was not a member of any church, but a better hearted clever man never lived. 
   He leaves a wife and three daughters, Miss Lizzie, who is with the firm 
of Smith and Amberg as saleswoman in the dry goods department; Miss Sadie, 
who is assistant cashier in the Hickman Bak; Miss Irene, who is book keeper 
for the branch house of Haas, Liebes and Coste Grocery Co. at this place.
  The remains were laid to rest in City Cemetery Monday evening, Rev. W. S.
Roney conducted the service.
