Transcribed from a January 2002 Hickman Courier Bill Ramsey William Thomas “Bill” Ramsey, 65, of Hickman, Ky., died Jan. 21, 2002 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Strong Funeral Home in Hickman, with the Revs. Henry Callison and James Kinsey officiating. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services on Thursday. Pallbearers will be James “Buck” Kennedy, Jackie Duncan, Hugh Caldwell, Bill Murray, Wiley Gannon, Larry Myatt and John Amberg. Honorary pallbears will be Phil Choate and Lee Craddock. He was born June 29, 1936 in Hickman. He was a member of Hickman First Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, who serve 1954-62. He had been fire chief for the City of Hickman 16 ˝ years from 1954-93. He was als a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years. Survivors include his wife, Martha Ramsey; his son Tommy Ramsey of Fulton; two daughters, Carol Parker of Hickman and Lisa McClure of Martin; two sisters, Judy Powell of Hickman and Jeannette Clack of Horse Cave, Ky.; his mother Marie Cagle of Hickman; and five grandchildren.. He was preceded in death by his father, William T. Ramsey Sr. and his stepfather James “Friday” Cagle.
