ABEL JOHNSON (1760-1830) by Mrs. Lawson Roper Abel Johnson was born in North Carolina in 1760, and was living in Johnson County, North Carolina, during the Revolutionary War. He served as a private for forty-two months, and was later granted 320 acres of land for his military service. Date of the grant was February 13, 1797. Johnson died in Montgomery Co., Tennessee in 1830. (The only member of the Jacob Flournoy Chapter DAR who is a descendant of Pvt.
