JOSEPH MORRIS (1736-1778) by Mrs. Ray Andrus Little is known about Joseph Morris except for the following documented facts: He was born March 31, 1736, in Virginia, and died on September 15, 1778. Morris served as a Private in the Revolutionary War in Capt. James Quarles Company, Second Virginia Regiment, from March 15 to May 1, 1778. He married Susan Woodson, and they had four children as follows: Royal, born in 1764, Lucy born 1768, who married John Jarrett, George, born in 1775, died in 1865, and Woodson. Members of the Jacob Flournoy Chapter, DAR, who are descended of Pvt. Joseph Morris, are Mrs. Raymond Andrus, Miss Maude Morris and Mrs. Zanaida McCloy Turk.
