M.B. Gardner and Wilkerson Knox
 This Indenture made this twenty fourth day of March one thousand 
Eight hundred and forty nine between Marshall B. Gardner of the County of 
Carroll and State of Kentucky of the one part and Wilkerson Knox of the 
County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth That the said 
Marshall B. Gardner for and in consideration of the sum of Thirty dollars 
paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and 
sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said 
Wilkerson Knox his heirs and assigns all his undivided interest in the land 
of Zecheriah Gardner decd together with his interest in the dower right of 
his mother in the same situation lying and being in the County of Gallatin 
and State aforesaid on the waters of Lick Creek.  To have and to hold the 
land hereby conveyed with the appurtenances unto the said Wilkerson Knox his 
heirs and assigns forever and the said Marshall B. Gardner for himself his 
heirs Executors and administrators the aforesaid tract of land and 
appurtenances unto the said Wilkerson Knox his heirs and assigns against 
the claim or claims of all and every person persons whatsoever doth and 
will forever warrant and defend.  In Witness whereof the said Marshall B. 
Gardner has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date above written.

I John T. Robinson Clerk of the county court for the County aforesaid do 
certify that the deed from Marshall B. Gardner to Wilkerson Knox was on the 
9th day of July 1849 presented to me in my office and partly proven by the 
oath of William A. Ray one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and I 
further certify that the said deed was again proved to me on the 6th day of 
August 1849 and fully proven by the oath of John Hopkins the other 
subscribing witness thereto to be the act and deed of the said Marshall B. 
Gardner and thereupon the said deed together with this certificate hath 
been recorded in my said office this 7th day of August A.D. 1849
