Family tradition says that three brothers came from England together sometime in the 1600s. -Martin left Fairfax Co. VA in 1784; moved to Garrard Co. KY (on Sugar Creek, which was in Lincoln Co. KY at the time). -Martin sold slaves (Charlotte and her son, Lewis), livestock, and household goods to William Hamlett (his son-in-law) for 186 pounds on 2/15/1787 in Halifax Co. WIFE NOTES: Hannah Anne CLARK General(7): -When Martin and Ann came to Kentucky from Virginia, she had an assortment of slaves that had been given to her by Alexander Horsbaugh (not a relative of Henrietta). The original slave was a 7-year old child given to her (not to Martin). Details apparently in Garrard Co. Ky court cases, possibly styled "Horsebaugh v. Baker," "Baker v. Baker," and "Hamlett v. Death(10): General: -James, with his father, Martin, and cousin Francis Clark, came to Garrard Co. KY from VA about 1779. They were gone so long that Martin was declared dead in VA and his estate settled. They returned to VA to pick up the family (Ann Hannah, James, and Elizabeth) in 1784.
