This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Georgina Leavell MsGeo@aol.com ==================================================================== Daniel LEAVELL Daniel LEAVELL was slave to Squire LEAVEL in Garrard County, KY when he enlisted in the United States Colored Troop (USCT) during the Civil War. He enlisted July 4, 1864 as a Private in the 116th Regiment, Company H at Camp Nelson Kentucky. He mustered out a Sargeant at Louisville, KY on January 17, 1867. Daniel applied for his pension of $20.00 per month on June 11, 1890 and made several appeals until his pension was granted on August 11, 1908 in the amount of $15.00 per month. He claimed his pension because of deafness which resultant of a battle in Petersburg, VA from a "cannon firing over him". Daniel was husband to Susan REYNOLDS and they had 11 children. She predeceased him in 1885.
