September 21, 1818 This day Thadius Hardwidge Warmoth makes oath that he enlisted as a regular soldier in the Continental Army of the United States on the 13th day of February 1778 for the term of 12 months in the county of Westmoreland and the Commonwealth of Virginia, under Capt Samuel Coulson and joined the army at Valley Forge and was attached to a regiment commanded by Thomas Ghaskins (but does not recollect the number of the regiment). We ?? at Valley Forge until in June following, where ?? moved from Philadelphia and about the 28th of June was at the battle at Monmouth Old Courthouse. From Monmounth we went to the White Plains and in the fall we took winter quarters at Middlebrook, and staid at Middlebrook until about the first of March when I got my discharge. Not knowing the ?? discharge would be of any use, I cut it up for a shoe pattern. I am fifty seven years of age and in need of assistance from my country. I never had any pension from any government. X his mark Thadeus Hardwidge Warmoth P W Harrison is a respectible witness makes oath that he knows that the above affidavit is true to the enlistment and that the above affiant was gone for more than 12 months . " I lived a near nabour to the man that the affiant was bound apprentice to, and heard his master state that he had enlisted about the time and his mother also. ?? his discharge after enlistment. signed PW Harrison Also Robert Stuart, a respectible witness makes oath that he knows that Thadius H Warmoth is in low circumstances and he believes in need of assistance from government. signed Robert Stuart "I William L Kelly, a precinct judge of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, do hereby certify that Thadius Hardwidge Warmouth, PW Harrison and Robert Stuart made oath before me this day to the above facts to which they have respectively ascribed their names, and from the evidence before me I am satisfied that the petitioner served for the time and in the manner above stated, and that he is in reduced circumstances. Given under my hand this 22nd day of September 1818. William L Kelly" 6,531 Kentucky Thadius Hardwidge Warmouth of the state of Kentucky who was a Private in the regiment commanded by Colonel Ghaskins of the Virginia Line for the term of 12 months. Inscribed on the Roll of Kentucky at the rate of $8 per month, to commence on the 21st of September 1818. Certificate of Pension issued the 5th of February 1819 and sent to Geo Robertson, Esq House of Representatives. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marriage Bond of Thaddeus Warmoth and Polly Bonner Know all men by these present that we Thaddeus Warmoth and Greenbury Warmoth are aheld and justly bound unto the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the just and full sum of fifty pounds current money to which payment will and truly be made. We bind ourselves our ?? jointly and severally by these present, sealed with our seal and dtaed the 2nd day of October 1839. The conditions of the above obligation is such that ?? there is a marriage shortly intended to be had, and solemized between the above bound Thaddeus Warmoth and Polly Bonner of Garrard County. Ministers Certification Executed 13th Oct 1839, signed Elijah Jeffers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Application statement of Widow of Thaddeus H Warmoth, Polly or Mary State of Kentucky Garrard County On this the fourteenth day of April AD 1855 personally appears before the undersigned a justice of the pearce within and for the County and state above named duly authorized by law to administer oaths for general purposes Polly Warmouth alias Mary Warmouth as resident of Garrard County in the state of Kentucky aged fifty three years and a credible person who being first duly sworn according to the law on her oath declares that she is the widow of Thaddeus Warmouth who was a Soldier of the Revolution. That she is the identical Polly Warmouth or Mary Warmouth who has applied for and been allowed a pension on account of the Revolutionary Service of her said husband the said Thaddeus Warmouth under the act of Congress ?? on the 3rd day of February 1853 and that she is still receiving the same - she states that she has not married since the death of her said husband but is still his widow - she refers to the rolls of the company in which her husband served and the papers and proofs upon which said pension was allowed her on file in the department as proof of the truth of the facts above stated - she has never made any application or received any bounty land under any act of Congress nor does she believe that her husband ever applied for or received bounty land under any act of Congress - she makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she believes herself entitled under the Act of Congress approved on the 3rd day of March 1855 and asks that this be allowed her. signed X her mark Mary Warmouth witnesses Williams Rossin ?
