P.E. Foley, Wednesday night April 15th at 10:30 at the age of 97 years. He was born Oct.21,1838, and was reared in Knox Co. In 1859 he was united in marriage to Mary A. Phipps. To this union were 10 children,6 boys and 4 girls. One son Joseph Foley deceased, also his wife Mary A. Foley deceased in 1928. He was called to the ministry at the age of 26. He faithfully discharged his duties of preaching God'd word his entire life. He moved to Garrard Co.in 1904. For 32 yrs. he remained an honored and respected resident of this community, loyal and faithful member of Freedom Baptist Church. He never slept without giving his prayer's for the church. Nine children survive: G.B.Foley of Harlan, J.F. Foley,Lexington, Wm.Foley, S.R.Foley, and J.P.Foley all of Garrard Co.,Mrs Mary I. Brown of Berea, Mrs.Virginia Norvell of Corbin, Mrs.Lyda Moore and Mrs.Melissa Hutchins both of Garrard Co.,47 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. Willie P. Rogers. The body was laid to rest in the church yard. His passing removes one of the oldest and most honored citizens.
