From the Danville Advocate Messenger, 15 Mar 2002 Services for Walker Harrison Gaffney, 80, formerly of Lancaster will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Barry Jeffries. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery. He died Wednesday at Glasgow Nursing Home. Born April 25, 1921, in Richmond, he was the son of the late Harrison and Mary Chadwell Gaffney. He was a retired farmer and a member of Lawson Chapel Methodist Church. Survivors include four sisters, Marietta Harkreader of Texas, Lucille Ovendine of Michigan, Jean Lister and Shirley Scully, both of Lancaster; four brothers, W.C. Gaffney of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Clay and Alfred Gaffney, both of Lancaster, and Ralph Gaffney of Danville. Pallbearers will be Kenneth and Jerry Underwood, Thomas Scott, Earl McQuerry, Billy Denny and David Gibson. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today.
