William Harlan Vanhook was the son of (i) Benjamin Lorton [not Morton] Vanhook 
(born in either Pulaski County, Kentucky or in Virginia) and (ii) Permelia 
Unknown (sources alternately indicate her last name as Hicks or 
Curtley/Kirtley), born in either Pulaski County, Kentucky or Rockcastle County, 
Kentucky.  [Research regarding this couple is ongoing.  Please contact me if 
you have their marriage records or conclusive proof of Permelia's parentage.]  
William Harlan Vanhook first married Ellender Jane Cress on 15 May 1874 in 
Rockcastle County, Kentucky.  On 10 September 1879, he married Sarah Jane Ray 
in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.  "Lark Vanhook," identified as the informant on 
W.H. Vanhook's death certificate, is likely Larkin Johnathan Vanhook, the 
eldest son of W.H. Vanhook and Sarah Jane Ray.  William Harlan Vanhook is 
buried at the Vanhook-Brewer Cemetery, Swamper Road, Garrard County, Kentucky.
