Will Book L, pages 64-65 Will signed 1 Jan 1832 Will probated 13 August 1844 (NOTE: Charles's wife Jane was born Jane Pond) In the name of God amen. I Charles Brown of Garrard County and State of Kentucky being in my common health and mind do make constitute, ordain and publish this my last will and testament. 1st my wish is that my beloved wife Jane Brown shall have the tract of land whereon I am live (sic) consisting of seventy-five acres. Also my negro boy Mikel, and as much of all my stock and household and kitchen furniture and farming utensils as she thinks best for her use and benefit to take. To have of all this specified among her natural life and after her death to be desposed of as hereafter mentioned. 2nd My wish and desire is that my daughter Margaret Ferrill (sic Ferrell) shall have the tract of land whereon Micajah and Margaret Ferrill now lives consisting of (between?) seventy-five and eighty acres during her natural life and after her death for her children to have it as their property. Also the negro girl Suce/Luce, now in her possession and after her death that Suce/Luce and her descendants (if any) to return to the children of my daughter Margaret. 3rd My wish and desire is that my son Richard Brown shall have the tract of land whereon he now lives of between seventy and eighty acres. 4th My wish and desire is that after the death of my wife Jane that my son Stewart Brown shall have the tract of land whereon I now live containing seventy-five acres and also after her death that the negro boy Mikel shall be equally divided between my two sons Richard and Stewart in any form or manner as they think best. Also, after the death of my wife that all my personal estate shall be equally divided between my two sons Richard and Stewart Brown. 5th My will is that John Merritt (sic Marett) shall execute my last will and testament. This my last will and testament signed sealed and delivered in my presents (sic) of us witnesses and in the presents of the testator: Lytle Royston William Royston John Clark January 1st 1832. Charles Brown made his mark State of Kentucky, Garrard County I Alne (?) R. McKee, clerk of the Garrard County Court, do certify that the within will of Charles Brown decd was produced to court at the August county court 1844 and proven to be such by the oath of Lytle Royston a subscribing witness thereto who also proves the hand writing of the other witnesses and affirmed and ordered to be recorded which is accordingly done--Given under my hand this 13th August 1844.
