Morrow karly@pioneer.net ==================================================================== WILL OF CHRISTIAN PERKINS (B.1757, Goochland Co Va, d. abt. 16 April 1836 Garrard Co KY) Sensible of the shortness of life and the certainty of death and being desirous of making some disposition of the estate with which I have been blessed, I therefore make and publish this my last will and testament 1st I direct that my Executors herein after named promptly pay my debts if any remain after my death 2nd I give absolutely and unconditionally to my son James Perkins my negro slaves Amcy, Edney and Washington, 3rd I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Perkins my negro slaves Coleman Lot or Charlotte, Susan and William, 4th I give to my daughter Sally Reynolds my negro slaves Jack and Liley, 5th I give to my daughter Polly Reynolds my negro slaves Malina, Jefferson and Fanny, 6th I emancipate the woman Eve and her three children Martha Ann, Pleasant and Polly and I give to the (sic) bed and furniture on which I am lying, to Pleasant I give a fifty dollar horse and my saddle and bridle, to Martha Ann I give a bed and furniture and to Polly I give my third bed and furniture. 7th I give to my friend Samuel Lusk One Hundred Dollars 8th The remainder of my Estate both real personal and mixed I direct to be sold by my executors on a credit of Twelve months and the proceeds to be equally divided between my children James Perkins, Joseph Perkins, William Perkins, John Perkins, Sally Reynolds, Polly Reynolds and Susan Homes (sic) and to prevent any mistake or misconstruction I hereby devise to my Executor herein afterwards named that portion of my estate which I design for my daughter Susan Holmes for the use and benefit of said Susan Holmes and free from the control and ownership of her husband Isaac Holmes and if there should be any of that portion of my estate which I give to my Executors for the use and benefit of my daughter Susan Holmes remaining after her death then it is my desire that the remainder be equally divided between the children of my said daughter Susan Holmes 9th I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my friends James Stegar and Samuel Lusk Executors of this my last will and testament and invest them with full power to carry into effect this will Given from under my hand this 8th March 1836 Christian Perkins seal Witness James Stegar ( D. Denton ( State of Kentucky, Garrard County ( I certify that the foregoing will of Christian Perkins was produced to court on the 18th day of April 1836 and proven by the oath of James Stegar a subscribing witness thereto as well to the will as to the handwriting of D. H. Denton, another subscribing witness thereto, and approved and ordered to be recorded, and the same is hereby admitted to record.
