I Benjamin Sutton of the County of Garrard and State of Kentucky taking into view the changable nature of all sublunary(sic) things and being confident of the certainty of death, which cannot in the course of nature fail to arrest me ere long. Being at this time sick & feeble of body but of sound mind and memory and of perfect understanding thanks be to the Lord for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others. Item my body I commit to the dust from whence it originated there to rest in hope - And my immortal part I humbly recommend to the holy care and keeping of God my Saviour. As to the earthly goods with which it has pleased God to endow me, I desire may be and I do hereby dispose of in the following manner Viz: Item to my beloved wife Molly I give and bequeath the whole of my land and two negros to wit Lewis and Hannah with as much house hold and kitchen furniture farming utentials (sic) and stock as she may think proper and not necessary to keep during her natural life - and as I have given to all my daughters already one negro each. I now give and bequeath to my son John Sutton a negro girl Martha. To my son William Sutton a negro boy named Sam. And whereas the negro I gave to heretofore to my daughter Elizabeth Baker, died before it rendered her much service, my will and desire is that she shall have a negro girl named Susan with her future increase to her my said daughter Elizabeth and the heirs of her body forever, also the above bequeathed negroes, I give with their future increase to my said sons and their heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Peggy Garvin a certain small tract of land containing about thirty acrea on which she and her husband John Garvin now live with their children. And I desire that it may be expressly understood that my will is the Deed for which I held a bond, must be made exclusively to her and to her heirs forever, Item - At the decease of my wife - I give and bequeath to my sons John and Benjamin the land above devised to my wife (during her natural life) in equal ratio and hereby ordain and appoint that they two shall pay to the heirs of my Deceased son James Sutton four hundred dollars in good and lawful money of this Commonwealth on them getting possession of the same. - Item, I desire that my executors herein after mentioned shall sell so much of my perishable estate as may be sufficient to pay all just debts, and if it should be necessary my Will is that the residue of my negroes Hiram and Emily be also sold and after my debts are paid whatever may remain from the sale I desire may be at the disposal of my wife to be distributed at her pleasure - Item at the decease of my wife I Will that whatsoever estate there may be not above devised shall be sold and equally divided among the whole of my children to them and their heirs forever - Item I hereby ordain and appoint my wife Molly Extrix and Jno.
