CONRAD 2987, Grant Co. Surname: Conrad, Boyers, Lemmon, Conyers, Childers Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed.,Grant Co. ISAAC B. CONRAD was born near Dry Ridge, Grant Co., Ky., July 28, 1818, and is the eldest of a family of five children born to William and Elizabeth (Boyers) Conrad. William Conrad, of Harrison County, was a son of Isaac Conrad, a native of Maryland, and was born December 6, 1797. He was an eminent minister of the Regular Baptist Church, of which his wife was also a member. He preached in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri and West Virginia, and died March 13, 1882. Elizabeth Conrad was a daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Lemmon) Boyers. Jacob Boyers was born on the ocean while his parents were emigrating from Germany to America. Isaac B. Conrad was reared on a farm, and chose farming as an occupation; he owns 1,248 acres of land, and although often solicited, has never been in office, except a subordinate office in the militia under the old law. He has been a member of the militia since the fourth Saturday of April, 1842. November 5, 1840, he married Elizabeth H. Conyers, daughter of Jesse and Nancy (Childers) Conyers. Jesse Conyers, a native of Pendleton County, died November 12, 1869; his widow survives him in her eighty-fifth year. Mrs. Conrad was born November 25, 1824, and has been a member of the Baptist Church for forty years. Seven children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Conrad, viz: William H. (deceased), born August 17, 1841; Isaac Newton, born December 27, 1843, Robert P., born August 13, 1854; Lucia, born April 27, 1856; James Perry, born January 2, 1858; Virginia Grant, born June 16, 1861, and Ida B. (deceased), born June 10, 1864.
