The 7th Kentucky was later placed under the command of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and became "Mounted Infantry". It was known as "the Orphan Brigade". Additional Comments: Enlisted Oct. 22, 1861 - Camp Burnett, TN. Jan.-Feb. (1862) muster roll shows rank as Pvt. Nov.-Dec. (1862) muster roll shows rank as Ordinance Sgt., Jan.-Feb. (1863) muster roll show rank as 1st. Sgt. Wounded at Harrisburg, MISS., July13-15, 1864. Hospital muster roll-first sent to Lee Hospital, Lauderdale, Miss. July 16, 1864 appears on reciept roll for clothing. Went on a 40-day wounded furlough and furnished a horse. Wounded and captured at Battle of Selma, AL. on April 2, 1865 and paroled at Columbus, GA., April 17, 1865.
