He was a native of Oldham County. He was preceded in death by a stepsonm Michael Portman. Survivors include his wife, Delena Portman Fendley, 12 stepchildren, Carolyn Clark of New Haven, Rita Gawarecki, Martin Portman and Christopher Portman, all of Louisville, Agnes Kipper, Greg Portman, Timmy Portman, and Sylvia Sanders, all of Big Clifty, Bernadette Manques and Gloria Henshaw, both of California, Angela Evans of Lexington and Nancy Kersey of Clarkson, several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren, and two good friends, Joyce and Vivian. The funeral is 1 p.m. Central time Tuesday at Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson with the Rev. Rosetta and Father Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
