The following obituary ran in The Green County Record June 30, 1949


FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN LOUISVILLE

Flem B. ADKINS, well-known building contractor in Louisville for the past ten
years and a native of Green County, died Monday in a Louisville hospital after
a short illness.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29 at the
Summersville Nazarene Church, were conducted by Reverend ROOT and burial was
in the family cemetary.

ADKINS, a carpenter by trade, injured his thumb sometime ago while working,
and later eveloped blood poisoning, was taken to a hospital and lived only a
few days.

The son of Frank ADKINS and Martha HAWKINS, he was born August 4, 1888. In
1907 he married Jane SIDEBOTTOM and to this union 5 girls and 4 boys were
born. He was a member of the Ladies Chapel Methodist Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Mrs. Irene OAKES, Mrs. Josie
LEVENE, Mrs. Elizabeth ELMORE, Mrs. Christine MORAN, Miss Emma ADKINS, Frank,
Raymond, Edwin and Flem ADKINS, Jr. Also surviving are one brother, Obe
ADKINS, 20 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Frank PERKINS, Tom ADKINS, Ezra ADKINS, Clyde RUSSELL, Jim
ADKINS, and Noble SIDEBOTTOM.
