Oliver Carr 86, a Civil War veteran and resident of this city for many years, died at his home 1913 Hickman Street, Saturday, of infirmities of old age. He was well known, especially by the older residents of Ashland, and had a host of friends. Mr. Carr was born in Penn. Sept 14, 1843 and at a very early age went to Greenup Co. where he resided until he moved to Ashland several years ago. Mr. Carr was united in marriage to Miss Malinda Gholson on Feb 15, 1872 and to this union were born 9 children. He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow and the following children: Willis Carr, Robert Carr, Mrs. David Lake, Mrs William Erwin, Mrs Frank Turner, Mrs S. H Barber, Mrs. W. L. Warnock, all of Ashland and Mrs Hannah George of Raceland; Mrs. Arch Adams having preceded him in death several years ago. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Tom and Amos Carr and 2 sisters, Mary and Elizabeth and several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the Second ME Church Monday afternoon at 3:00 with the Rev. J.H. Burden in charge, with interment following in the Dixon Cemetery.
