PROMINENT CITIZEN DEAD
     Squire William ALSOP, of Hancock County, died at Hawesville on Monday, 
October 30, 1899.  He was more than 50 years old, and leaves a wife and three 
children.  He was a member of the Board of Magistrates, and both Road & Poorhouse 
Commissioner for Hancock County.
