Will Book A p. 98 This Indenture made this twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred Between WILLIAM BOWLING of the County of HARDIN and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and JACOB BRUNER of the said County and Commonwealth of the other part. Witnesseth that the said WILLIAM BOWLING voluntarily and with the approbation of PATSY BOWLING his mother, hath placed and bound himself and by these presents doth put place and bind himself to be an apprentice with him the said JACOB BRUNER and as apprentice with him the said JACOB BRUNER to dwell till the said WILLIAM BOWLING shall attain the age of twenty one years which will be on the 15 December in the year Eighteen hundred & three during all which time the said WILLIAM BOWLING doth covenant and agree to and with the said JACOB BRUNER that he will well and faithfully serve in all such lawful business as the said WILLIAM BOWLING shall be put unto by his said Master according to the test of his power with and ability of him the said WILLIAM BOWLING and honestly and obediently shall be have himself towards the said JACOB BRUNER and honestly and orderly towards the family of the said JACOB BRUNER. And the said JACOB BRUNER on his part doth covenant and agree to and with the said WILLIAM BOWLING that he the said JACOB BRUNER will well and truly instruct the said WILLIAM BOWLING in the art and mistery of Taning and Currying business which the said JACOB BRUNER now followeth, and will use all due diligence to make the said WILLIAM BOWLING as perfect in the said art or mistery of TANING and Currying as possible. And the said JACOB BRUNER will allow to the said WILLIAM BOWLING good and sufficient meat and apparel washing lodging and all other things suitable for an apprentice during the said Term. Also to learn him reading writing and common arithmetick including the rule of three and pay him the said WILLIAM BOWLING three pounds ten shillings and a Decent new suit of cloths at the expiration of this Term of Service.
