Eli Brown's Hs &c To Jas H Dougherty Tax Pd Ex'd & Del'd To A D Geoghegan This Deed made this 28th day of June 1871 by and between Jeremiah Brown, Squire Brown, David Brown, Elizabeth Chrisnall & ______ Chrisnall her husband, Felty Brown, Thos Brown, the last four heirs at low of Felty Brown dec and the other unknown heirs of Felty Brown dec, Richard Brown, Peter Brown, Philip M. Brown, Elijah Brown, Elizabeth Vandegraff and ______ Vandegraff, her husband, Mary Goodman & David (alias Dock) Goodman, her husband, Nancy Humble & Martin Humble, her husband, Eliza Ford & Henry Ford her husband, children & heirs at law of Eli Brown dec'd, William M. Birkhead, Rose Ellen Birkhead, Andrew Jackson Birkhead, Maggy Birkhead & Lockhart Birkhead & Mary E. Birkhead, children & heirs at law of Wellington Birkhead dec. by T. H. Gunter, Com'r of Hardin Circuit Court in the case of James H. Dougherty vs Eli Brown's heirs &c, parties of the first part and James H. Dougherty, party of the second part, witnesseth that by virtue of an order of Hardin Circuit Court and for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars, which has been paid, the parties of the first part by T. H. Gunter, Com'r as aforesaid hereby convey to the said James H. Daugherty, his heirs & assigns with covenant of general warranty on behalf of Eli Brown's Heirs so far as assets have or may come to their hands from the estate of Eli Brown dec'd, and by deed of release from the heirs of Wellington Birkhead dec'd, hereby convey to the said James N. Dougherty, his heirs and assigns, a certain tract of land lying on the waters of Meeting Creek in Hardin County, Ky. containing 200 acres, & is bounded as follows: Beginning at a sycamore on Meeting Creek, below Linder's grave yard at S. on the plat and survey filed in said action, thence down Meeting Creek to a white oak at A. on said plat, on the bank of said creek, thence S49¼E. 80 poles to a stake at B. on the plat, thence S26½W. 10 poles to a white oak standing in the edge of a pond at F. on the plat, thence N63E. 75½ poles to the Beginning at S. on the plat, to him the said James H. Dougherty his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name for and on behalf of the parties of the first part the day and date first above written. 1871 June 28, Examined & approved M. H. Fraize, Clerk of the Circuit Court for the County of Hardin, do certify that this deed from Eli Brown's Heirs by T. H. Gunter, Commissioner, to James H Dougherty was on the 28th day of June 1871 produced in Court by said Commissioner and acknowledged by him to be his act and deed, which being examined and approved by the Court, was ordered to be certified to the proper office for record when duly stamped, and the same being now stamped as required is hereby certified to the proper office for record.
