Know ye that by and in consideration of a certificate for settlement there is granted by the commonwealth unto JACOB SHORT ASSIGNEE OF ELISHA FREEMAN a certain tract or parcel of land containing four hundred acres by survey bearing date the twentieth day of March one thousand seven hundred and ninety five. Lying and being in Hardin County on Nolan creek about two or three miles below Sandy and bounded as followth. Wit: Beginning at two large poplars starting on the bank of Nolan marked S.H. running thence North eighty degrees East two hundred and eighty-five poles is a stake and some white oak bushes in a valley thence South ten degrees, East two hundred and fourteen poles to two Jack Oaks near the top of a ridge thence South eighty degrees West two hundred and eighty five poles to two white oaks, hickory and black oaks on the bank of Nolan thence up the several meanders there of to the beginning with its appurtenances to the said JACOB SHORT assignee and his heirs for ever. In witness where of the said ISAAC SHELBY Esquire governor of the commonwealth of Kentucky shall here unto set his hand and cause the seal of the commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six an of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
