Wt 2030 100 Kentucky Jacob FLANDERS of Hardin Co in the state of Kentucky who was a Private in the regiment commanded by Colonel CELLEY of the New Hamp line for the term of 1777 War Inscribed on the Roll of Kentucky at the rate of 8 Dollars per month, to commence on the 30 of June 1818 Certificate of Pension issued the 28 of Apr 1820 and sent to Hon B. HARDIN House of Repr Arrears to 4th of March 1820 161.29 semi anl aaa'ce ending 4 Sept 1820 48. 209.29 Revolutionary claim Act of 18th March 1818 Certification sent January 8, 1821 to Hon B. HARDIN H of Reps, United States State of Kentucky Hardin County I Jacob FLANDERS aged seventy five years do upon oath certify and declare that I entered the Service of the United States on the day of in the year 1775 for the Term of the War and that I served in the company commanded by Capt Nathaniel HUTCHENS in the Regiment No 1 commanded by Col Joseph SILBY of the New Hampshire line and was honorably discharged in the month of May or June in the year 1785 from the Regiment commanded by Col Joseph SILBY I further declare that I have never received a Warrant for the Bounty Lands promised to me on the part of the United States nor have I ever assigned or transferred my claim in any manner whatever. Therefore know all men by these presents that I Jacob FLANDERS aforesaid do hereby constitute and appoint the Honorable Benjamin Thomas CHITTON & Benjamin HARDIN or either of them to be my true and Lawfull attornies for me and in my name to demand and receive from the Secretary of War of the United States a warrant for the quantity of Land due to me as aforesaid and also to demand and receive from the proper accounting officer of the treasury department at Washington, the Eighty Do llars bounty promised by the resolution of Congress of May 15, 1778 to the soldiers of the Continental army that continued to the End of the war and my said attornies or either of them is hereby fully authorized and empowered to constitute and appoint one or more substitutes or attorneys under them for the special purposes above expressed Attest Jacob FLANDERS State of Kentucky Hardin County ss This day Apl 24 1834 personally appeared Jacob FLANDERS before me John MORRIS one of the Justices of the peace for said County and subscribed his name before me and acknowledged the power of attorney thereto subjoined to be State of Kentucky Hardin Circuit Sct June Term 1820 Ordered that the following schedule be admitted to record having been first sworn to in open Court Schedule District of Kentucky & Circuit of Hardin On this day of June 1820 personally appeared in open Court being a COurt of record __ said district and County, George Jacob FLANDERS aged sixty years resident in Hardin County in said District who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath declare that he served in the revolutionary war as follows. I enlisted under Lieutenant William HUTCHENS some time in 1775 in Captain Nathaniel HUTCHENS company the first new Hampshire regiment ____ commanded by Colonel Joseph SCILBY. I served in said regiment afor during the war which about seven years and four months. And I do solemnly swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not since that time by gift sale or in any manner disposed of my property or any part thereof with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of one act of congress entitled an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the revolutionary war passed on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not since that time nor has any person in trust for me any property or securities contracts or debts due to me other than nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed and by me subscribed. I have no property except one cow et al. I have a wife named Anne aged fifty two also one son named Elisha aged thirteen my occupation a mill right and I am very unhealthy & unable to pursue my trade my wife is in bad health my son has good health Jacob FLANDERS The Court is of opinion that the cow mentioned in the foregoing schedule is of the value of $16. State of Kentucky Hardin Circuit Sct I Samuel HAYCRAFT Clerk of the Circuit Court for the Circuit aforesaid do herby certify that the foregoing oath and schedule thereto annexed is truly copied from the record of the said Court and I do further certify that it is the opinion of the Court that the total amount in value of the property exhibited in the foregoing [ends here] Department of the Interior Bureau of Pensions Washington, D. C. , December 28th 1893 Sir; In response to your request for the military history, during the Revolutionary War, of Jacob Flanders you will please find below the desired information as contained in his application for pension on file in this Bureau. He entered the service in the month of April, 1776, and served until the close of the war as a private in Capt. Nathaniel HUTCHINS' Company, Col. GILLEY's N. H. Regiment. He states that he took part in the battles of Flat Bush, Monmouth, Trenton & Princeton and was present at the taking of BURGOYNE and at the surrender of Lord CORNWALLIS. His application for pension was dated June 30th, 1818, at which time he was a resident of Hardin Co., Kentucky and 58 years of age. Very respectfully, Commissioner Geo F. BURBA Clerk East Div. Pen.
