The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Isaac Vertrees This is a letter that was sent to the researcher in 1940 Miss Lillian Crume Vine Grove Kentucky The pension is very hard to read, and some of the pages are almost blank, So I've decided to use the Letter that told what was in the Pension application.Isaac Vertrees, son of Jacob and Catharena Vertrees was born 15 Apr 1765. place not shown. He enlisted in PA. in August 1776, severed as private in Captains Eli Miers's and James Garnahan's companies Colonels Muckey's and Daniel Brodhead's 8 th PA. regiment, was in the battle of Brandwine and Boundbrook, in many skirmishes, and discharged in Sept 1779 Issac was allowed Pension on account of his service in the Revloutionary War on his application executed 7 Sep 1818. He resided in Hardin Co. KY. He died there 5 Apr 1822. Isaac Vertrees married 5 Dec 1781, Elizabeth Barkhirmer, who was born in 1761. The names of her parents and the place of her birth were not given. She died 2 Apr 1838 at the home of her son Jacob Vertrees, in Hardin Co. KY. This Soldier and his wife, Elizabeth had only two Children Jacob and William: Jacob was born 23 Oct 1782, married 3 Dec 1806 or 1816, Elizabeth Young, who was born 18 Jan 1786. Jacob died 16 Dec 1846 leaving no issue. William died 16 Oct 1822; the name of his wife is not given, but he was survived by Children Isaac, born 25 Oct 1802; William and Hester, who married 29 Feb, 1824, Martin Hall One Elizabeth Vertrees married 15 May 1823, John Brandenburg no relationship between her and the Soldier's family was stated
