Price for single copy 30 cents, per dozen 3 dollars, for hundred copies 20 dollars not prepaid.......... Treacherous Revenge of a Gang of Moonshiners The Cundiffs over in the edge of Hardin, have been a terror to the moonshiners gang. It seems that one of the Cundiff's (Jeff, I believe)acts as a sort of a detective amoung them. Last week in order to reap vengence against Jeff, they went one night to a house which they thought belonged to him and put a lot of dynamite under it and blew it up. They thought Jeff was in there and they would get him. But it proved to be the property of the Rev G. N. Cundiff, a local Presbyterian preacher. G. N. is a cousin of Jeff's and he never had anything to do with reporting on the moonshiners. But he doesn't like them destroying his property, and if he were to meet them there would be trouble. G. N. is a preacher but like his cousin Jeff, the detective- he is a dead aim. ................ Nolin and Vicinity The proudest man in this vicinity on New Year's night was Mr. John T. (article born Meeting Creek) Editor on Mrs A. M. Brown Memories of Etown (more article at the beginning) "Last summer I said to two little girls of Hannibal MO bearing the family name of Helm : "you see in me one whose like you may never see again, and one who has known 5 generations of the Helm family to which you belong. I know you, your father and mother, your grandmother and your deceased grand father. I knew your great grandfather and your great grandmother on both sides of the house, the ancestral Helms. I knew at E-town were "Uncle Jackey and Aunt Sally" and "Uncle Ben and Aunt Polly" That 5th generation is descended from both of the families named, only that I did not personally know the first wife of John B. Helm who married daughter of Ben Helm. The little girls named were also descended from an ancestral Park, the father of John and Arthur and 5 generations of that family I have know. I knew the ancestral mother Haycraft, the mistress of the Haycraft's fort, her son Samuel and all of the family. I have know 4 generations of that house and probably persons of the 5th and 6th generations are living now. Of the John Helm family counting his wife's father Ben Hardin, I have know 3 generations and baptized an infant in the 4th generation. There may be many in E-town and Hardin Co whose ancesters of 4 generations ago were know to me. I began this letter without consideration in what directions my thoughts would run and I have simply yielded to the thoughts that have come upon me. John W. Cunningham Mr. R. W.
