"Heidi" Langhorne, 56, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at her residence. A native of Neuenstaud, West Germany, she was the commander of DAV Auxiliary Post #156 of Radcliff from April 1998 until the time of her death. She was the head of the American Red Cross Blood Pressure Team at Fort Knox and she donated many hours to the Red Cross, for which she received many awards, including the Clara Barton Honor Award, Outstanding Volunteer of the Year and the Department of the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Medal. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Langhorne, Jr., on Jan. 10, 2002. Survivors include her parents, Hans and Agnes Boitz; a brother, Hubert Boitz; a sister Mararetia Muller; and a odchild, Heike Muller, all of Neuenstaud, West Germany; and a special caregiver, Lou Hamilton of Elizabethtown. The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date, after which the cremains will be taken to West Germany. Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.
