A native of Union Star, she was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha Powers, in 1983; her parents, John W. Kelm and Mollie Chism; two sisters, Rowena Gillion and Carrie Basham; and a brother, Orie Kelm Sr. Survivors include a daughter, Mardee L. Armes; three grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. The funeral was Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington with the Rev. Jerry Shacklett officiating. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery in Louisville.
