News-Herald, Horse Cave, KY, 20 Jan 1998: Darrell Tharpe, 68, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, January 14, 1998 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was a native of Hart county, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of American Legion Post #113 and retired from civil service at Fort Knox after working approximately 30 years. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stokley Tharpe and Harold Tharpe and a sister, Geraldine Tharpe. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cash Tharpe, Elizabethtown; a daughter, Deborah Jean Tharpe, Elizabethtown; a son, Mitchell Tharpe, Leitchfield; three brothers, Glenial Tharpe, Arnold Tharpe and Robert "Bobby" Tharpe, all of Elizabethtown; a sister-in-law, Jackie Pedigo, Glasgow; three granddaughters. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in ELizabethtown with the Rev. James Jessie officiating. Burial was in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation was at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
