He was a native of North Carolina and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a Mason and a member of the Elizabethtown First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Reeves Hampton; a foster son, Randy Lee Hampton, Elizabethtown; his mother, Mrs. Vina Broadnax, North Carolina; five brothers and three sisters. Services were conducted Thursday afternoon in the Dixon-Atwood-Adkins Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bernard Bishop.
