Carnes, 63, of Elizabethtown, died at 7:15 a.m. Monday at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a retired farmer and was a native of Bell County. His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Carnes; four sons, Jack Carnes, of Upton, Merdith Carnes, of Sonora, Colin Carnes of Mammoth Cave Rt. 4, and David Carnes, of Buffalo; two daughters, Mrs. Rose M. Patrick, of Laurel, Miss., and Mrs. Caroline Owens, of Elizabethtown, and six grandchildren. The funeral was held Wednesday at the Christian Home General Baptist Church, near Brownsville, with burial in Vincent Cemetery.
