The birth date on the certificate is incorrect. Ples Storms was born Isaac Pleas Storms in 1869. I do know that (based on the story told by his daughter) he was shot by his neighbor after a card game. The shooter was tried in court but acquitted. My great-grandmother (Pleas' daughter- Mary Storms) stomped on the accused man's foot, after hearing the ruling, and swore that "when she got grown, she would kill that man for killing her daddy".
