Witnesseth that the said John Cartmill & William Cartmill for & in consideration of the sum of twenty six dollars to them in hand, paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and forever acquit and discharge the said John Ward, do grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm and by these presents have granted, bargained, sold, aliened & confirmed unto the said John Ward, his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying, situate, being in the County of Harrison on the waters of Flat Run and bounded as follows. To wit: Beginning at two sugar trees, running thence East 6? [looks like 6] poles to a blue ash and stake, thence North 78 degrees, East 123 poles to a Hackberry, elm & honey locust, thence North 62 degrees, West 6 poles to a stake, thence South 28 degrees, West 123 poles to the beginning, containing by survey four & one half acres. Which said tract or parcel of land together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, they the said John Cartmill & William Cartmill doth by these presents, warrant and forever defend to the said John Ward, his heirs, exrs., admins., and assignes from the property claim or claims or demand of any person or persons whatever claiming the same and this shall in all respects be considered as a general warranty deed.
